Workshops, lectures, and performances

Since 2004 Augusto has taught workshops, lectured, and directed shows for several BA and MA performance courses, including at Laban, Dartington College of Arts, Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Winchester University, Brighton University, and Chichester University.

The workshops focus on finding approaches to composition where the process of constructing the performance is apparent in the performance itself.
The work is normally physical and studio-based, combining release dance work, text, and 'pedestrian' performance modes.

The lecture presentations focus on the body of work developed by Augusto Corrieri, contextualising the performances in the broader history of art and theatre of the 20th century.

Directed shows allow students to be both makers as well as performers of their own work. The process lasts anywhere between 1 day and 4 weeks. Strategies and tasks for making include revisiting 20th century artists and works: for example, recreate John Cage's 4'33'' in the context of choreography. Or take a scene from a Pina Bausch show, remove Dominique Mercy's dance from it, and re-present it.

Augusto Corrieri is open to other ways of collaborating with universities and institutions: residencies, presentations of performances alongside workshops, developing and running new modules in collaboration with course leaders. To get in touch, please go to the contact page.
